I clearly remember the day of my grandmother’s funeral, as if it were just yesterday. I was 13 years old, and it was the first funeral I ever attended. Grandma was in her 70’s and had died on my mother’s birthday, after being sick off and on for a year.

The Terri Schiavo case in Florida has brought a very personal and tragic issue under the scrutiny of the public eye. Whether you side with the husband or the parents regarding life-sustaining measures, you probably agree that the Schiavo’s situation is heartbreaking for all involved.
Not-for-profit and for-profit hospices:Is there really a difference?

I’ve received a lot of questions lately about not-for-profit and for-profit hospices. What’s the difference? I hear this question not only from the general public, but also from other health care providers.
