Students at the University of Colorado School of Medicine have partnered with 13 medical schools across the country to collect medical books for donation to medical schools in the Salah al-Din region of Iraq.
"Iraqi medical students lack adequate books and supplies," said Sharon Wetherall, fourth-year CU medical student and organizer of the book drive. "We hope to collect 300 books."
A book drop has been set up on the first floor of the Denison Memorial Library, 4200 E. 9th Ave., on the CU-Health Sciences Center’s Denver campus. Books can be dropped off until April 1.
Students plan to ship the books to the American Red Cross in New York, which will handle delivery of the books to Iraq. In addition to book donations, the students are also seeking monetary donations to offset the costs of shipping. For more information, contact: Sharon Wetherall, 720-244-1290.
