St. Anthony Hospice and Porter Hospice, a part of Centura Health at Home, are pleased to announce Dr. Michael Metros as the new Hospice Medical Director. In his new role, Metros will oversee both hospice patients being treated in their homes and at our 18-bed hospice residence, Porter Hospice at The Johnson Center.
Metros will work with the interdisciplinary hospice team comprised of nurses, CNAs, non-denominational chaplains and social workers to create comprehensive care plans for each patient.
After earning his degree from University of Colorado School of Medicine, Metros completed his residency in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital and Carl T. Hayden Veterans’ Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
He has been in the Centura Health system for seventeen years and recently was named "Physician of the Year" at Porter Adventist Hospital. Metros has been the Palliative Care Director at Porter Adventist Hospital since 2008 and has served many patients in our community through his work at the Apollo Internal Medicine practice. Centura Health at Home believes Dr. Metros’ passion for end of life care will fit well within the mission of the organization and greatly strengthen our hospice programs.
For more than twenty-five years, Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice have provided compassionate end of life care and bereavement services to the Denver-metro community. Hospice care is offered in a patient’s home, hospital, senior living community or our 18-bed residential center, Porter Hospice at The Johnson Center.
