Murphy named director of breast care centerPublished 9/16/2009

Colleen D. Murphy has been named medical director of the Porter Adventist Hospital Breast Care Center. She also will be on staff at SurgOne, P.C. surgical group.
Murphy has trained extensively in breast surgical oncology.  She completed a clinical fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Harvard Medical School, as well as a breast oncology research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She served on the faculty of the Harvard Medical School, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a breast surgical oncologist.
Her professional interests include breast cancer risk assessment and screening, high-risk breast cancer patients, young women with breast cancer, lymphedema, breast cancer survivorship and breast MRI. She has published numerous journal articles and book chapters in the field of breast oncology. Murphy received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed a general surgical internship and residency at Indiana University. She is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of several professional societies, including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Diseases, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
