Denver Health, Reach Out and Read program celebrate donation of 50,000 new books

Miss Colorado, Katee Doland, a literacy advocate, reads to a third grade class from Knapp Elementary at the Westwood Family Health Center in Denver. The gathering was in celebration of 50,000 new books donated by Scholastic Book Clubs to the Colorado Reach Out and Read program.
Denver Health recently received the American Heart Association’s "Get With The Guidelines" Coronary Artery Disease Performance Achievement award for excellence in acute myocardial infarction care. Denver Health is one of only four hospitals in the nation to receive this award.

Installing new computerized information management systems in hospital intensive care units can significantly reduce the time spent by ICU nurses on documentation, giving them more time for direct patient care, according to a study through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
